Cool Cups Jell-O Cups

cool cups jello cups
Gelatin really takes me back. When I was a kid, Jello-O was a staple in our house for dessert, and it seems that we never really grew tired of it – from Jello-O Jigglers (those are so fun to make) to Jello-O molds at grandma's house, we ate a lot of Jell-O.  But once I began down a healthier path, I began to understand more about the origins of some foods, including gelatin. It turns out that gelatin is actually made from the tissues, bones, and hides of animals.  Yep, it is.  That makes those cute little cups of Jell-O sitting on the shelf of my local market look a lot less appealing to me, despite how wonderfully low calorie they are.

That’s why I was so happy to find Natural Gels from Cool Cups at my local Whole Foods.  These vegan, fat free and gluten free gel cups are so yummy and perfectly proportioned to make the ideal snack.  And I don’t have to envision how gelatin is made when eating these, which is a big plus.

Cool Cups are made using a sea vegetable called carrageenan which works sort of like gelatin in that it gives these dessert gels their unique wiggle. These are also made using filtered water, which is a big plus to me as well.  These come in a four-pack, much like other prepared Jello-O cups on the market.

So yes, these are delish.  They are less than 95 calories (2 weight watchers points plus points) and they are super-high in Vitamin C.  They are free from GMOs, they don’t have any artificial colors or preservatives and they come in some pretty darn good flavors, including Orange, Black Cherry, and Peach Mango. They can be found at several natural food stores.

Enjoy!

I'm going to look for these tonight. They sound tasty, and not nearly as gross as the real stuff. :-)
