Newman's Own Organic Popcorn

low calorie popcorn

Popcorn is such a good healthy snack since it is quite low in calories and high in fiber. However, most popcorn that you buy at the store contains really unhealthy ingredients like high fat hydrogenated oils or large amounts of sodium.

If you don't have a popcorn popper (I don't have room for one in my kitchen), then a great alternative is Newsman's Own Organic "Pop's Corn" which is completely natural unsalted microwave popcorn (so literally just popcorn kernels put into a bag so you can make yourself popcorn in the microwave).

Each huge bag of Newman's Own contains 3 servings, each of which is 110 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, and 5 grams of fiber (so 2 weight watchers points).

Once you cook your popcorn you can add toppings to your liking, such as a bit of low fat butter (like promise), cinnamon, some shredded fat free cheese, a bit of salt, or even some garlic powder (my favorite).

I buy Newman's Own at Whole Foods. I also added the popcorn to the Yummy Diet Food Amazon Store if you can't find it locally.

What do you like to put on your popcorn? And, are there any particular foods you are hoping I will post about? :)

Enjoy!
Juliet

It sounds weird (and possibly nasty), but I sometimes put the 94% fat free kettle corn in my little yogurt/greek yogurt/sugar-free jell-o concoctions. It's really good.

But then, I'm odd like that.

Though I will say Kashi puts popcorn in their Crunchy bars, which is also good, so apparently I'm not the only one to do odd things with popcorn haha. :)

I'll only buy organic microwave popcorn now after that whole popcorn lung thing I heard about in the news a few months back. There are a couple of good brands available to me around here that are really good. I like butter and salt, but also engevita yeast is brilliant on popcorn!

i am not so much of a popcorn lover as i am a kettle corn lover!!! i eat that stuff like crazy. when i went to hershey park, i brought like 5 bags home because i just couldn't stop eating it. i don't know what they put on it to make it so irresistible, but it is darn good- it's pretty sweet, too, but not as sweet as caramel corn.

I love popcorn...it's a great snack with lots of fiber. I usually put a little parmesan cheese on mine -- it adds a lot of flavor with not many extra cals. :)

I love popcorn! By itself, no toppings!

I'm always looking for new bars so bar reviews are great!

I'm pretty sure that popcorn is life. And that my city needs to invest in a Whole Foods.

...that is all.

:D

i always just buy the plain popcorn kernals and put it in a plain brown bag and roll up the end. put it in the microwave for about 4 minutes. This can save you alot of money.

I'm not sure the calories on this...but i use my butter favored Pam cooking spray ( i know that you usually use all natural ingredients) and then i use NO Salt and I crave this snack !

I pop my own pop corn in the microwave, place unpopped corn kernels in a brown paper sandwich bag, add a lil corn oil (less than a tsp) shake, fold the bag down three time, so that its well creased, pop for 3 1/2 mins Add a lil salt and since its not loaded w/ fats melt a lil bit of butter and pour over ur pop corn!
Viola -- Popcorn au naturale w/o the unhealthly fats from microwave popcorn!
