Larabar JamFrakas Bars

larabar jamfrakas barI haven't blogged about them before, but Larabar makes a delicious line of bars that consist of ONLY unsweetened fruits (including dates), nuts and spices. They are a bit higher in calorie than some bars (around 200 calories for most of them -- all healthy calories of course), but are a perfect snack for someone trying to avoid added sugar, or other processed or non-raw ingredients! My favorite flavor of Larabar is called Cashew Cookie and the entire ingredient list is just "cashews and dates".

So, I recently found a new kind of Larabar at Trader Joe's called JamFrakas. The JamFrakas bars are organic, substantially lower calorie, and targeted at kids. Like Larabars they are quite healthy and full of vitamins and minerals, although the ingredient list is expanded. For instance, the JamFrakas bars contain some ingredients that the regular Larabars do not, as the bars consist of fruits, nuts, honey, chocolate, and whole-grain rice. But, they are still gluten-, soy-, and trans fat-free, and they do not contain any high fructose corn syrup.

I think the JamFrakas bars are pretty yummy. They are crispy too, which I love! In the flavor department they come in: (1) Chocolate Chip Cosmocrisp, (2) Banana Chocolate Blastocrips, (3) Strawberry Crispicrumptious, (4) Peanut Butter Blisscrisp, and (5) Apple Crispalicious.

The bars range from 90-120 calories, 1-4.5 grams of fat, 1-2 gram of fiber, and 2-3 grams of protein (so 2-3 weight watchers points depending on the flavor).

Enjoy!

I got these as sample, but I wasn't too excited about it. The one that I like is banana flavor. It's a good snack alternative.

I prefer Larabars and Pure bars ;-)

These were pretty good. I remember liking the Apple and Banana ones the best. I will say that my sister's kids loved them.

I can't wait to try these! I'm not a huge fan of Lara bars, but these sound yummy--I'd like the extra crunch!

I've never tried these - I didn't know they were made by the same company as Larabars. If they're not too expensive maybe I'll pick some up. I tend not to eat that many bars though :)

I did not love these:( I was excited to try them, but they were not my favorite. I tried both the peanut bliss and the chocolate chip. I think the CLIF Z bars are tastier!
