Low Calorie Fruit Bars

Dreyer's all natural fruit barsGenerally speaking, I'm not a huge popsicle fan, however I am always on the lookout for low calorie coconut flavored foods. So, when I saw an all natural, relatively low calorie creamy coconut-flavored popsicle bar at the grocery store a while ago, I decided I might as well try it. Still somewhat skeptical, I decided to eat one for dessert one night, and I have to say I was really pleasantly surprised. The bar was really thick and creamy, and reminded me of ice cream on a stick. The coconut flavor was strong, and the bar had little pieces of coconut in it, that made it much more interesting than your average frozen sugar water popsicle. I wouldn't have expected it when I first bought them, but these fruit bars have become one of my favorite low calorie desserts. They also come in handy if you are sick and need some soft foods to eat in order to help you get better.

Enamored with the coconut bar, I've since tried some of the other flavors, including strawberry and orange cream -- all worth exploring. Like with the coconut bar, I found these bars to be quite satisfying because of the effect of their thickness and real fruit content on their flavor and texture. Dreyers also makes other flavors, namely grape, lemonade, lime, tangerine and strawberry-banana smoothie.

What's additionally great about these bars is their calorie and fat content. The bars (depending on which flavor you pick) range from 80-120 calories, and they are all 2 weight watchers points. They are all gluten free, and many of them are fat free and dairy free as well which is a plus depending on your preferences. I buy them at Safeway but I'm sure they are available at many mainstream grocery stores.

Enjoy!
