The lack of flavoring makes Fage a perfect base for adding low calorie granola, frozen fruit, or other yummy foods like cocoa nibs. But, as much as I like adding all of those wonderful toppings, it isn't as convenient to do so at work where I love eating yogurt for lunch. So, despite my love for Fage, I'm always on the lookout for other delicious fruity flavored Greek yogurts.
So, this weekend I decided to try wild blueberry flavored Voskos Greek yogurt which I found at my local Whole Foods. I wasn't feeling overly optimistic about it (I've tried some other flavored Greek yogurts that haven't really knocked my socks off), but I was hopeful it would be good. And, wow, it totally delivered! It was thick, creamy, fruity (the blueberry blend was perfect), and delicious! I loved it so much I even went back and bought more!
On top of being delicious, Voskos yogurt is all natural, fat free, and high in protein (the blueberry flavor has 13 grams of protein for example). I've only tried the blueberry flavor so far, but I see that this yogurt also comes in honey, honey vanilla, raspberry, fig, and strawberry flavors. The blueberry flavor is 120 calories, 0 grams of fat, and 0 grams of fiber, so 2 weight watchers points.
By the way -- sometimes I take the regular yogurts I buy at the store, and I put them in the freezer and let them freeze completely. What results is something in between an icy, ice cream, and frozen yogurt. It is really fun to eat, and the coldness forces you to eat it slowly and enjoy every bite, vs. when it is thawed and creamy. Frozen yogurt cups make a great dessert!
So, what is your favorite yogurt?
