Yummy Potato Rondelet

potato rondeletA friend of mine recently turned me onto Potato Gratin Rondelets, a french version of potatoes and low calorie cheese, made by Whole Kitchen. A big fan of both potatoes and cheese, I have to say, she didn't have to do a lot of work to convince me to try them, especially once she told me that they are only 100 calories each (or 2 WW points). These potato rondelets (I personally like to call them potato domes) are delicious. Each one is somewhat petite, but is definitely big enough as a side dish, or would make a great snack, if you were having a potato craving (they are more potato-y than cheese-y, although there is a fair amount of cheese atop each one). I highly recommend cooking them in the oven (as suggested on the box). I actually tried cooking one in my microwave (even though the box gave no instructions), and it left a lot to be desired compared to when I cooked it in the oven.

These little domes don't have any unnatural or bad ingredients, but given that they are basically made from potatoes, eggs, creme, and milk, they probably aren't the healthiest food to reach for on a daily basis. But, I think they really hit the mark for a good low calorie potato and cheese treat to eat on occasion.

These yummy potato rondelets can be found at Whole Foods in the freezer section. If you don't have a Whole Foods near you, and you are craving potatoes and cheese, you might consider looking at my potato skin recipe, and potentially making it without the tomato sauce.

Enjoy!
Juliet

I had one of these for dinner tonight (along with some stir fry veggies). I cooked it in the oven like you recommended, but for some reason, it came out kind of liquidy. The taste was still delicious though, but next time I'll make sure to cook it a little longer.
