Cabot Reduced Fat Cheese

Cheese, Please!  I love cheese – I have always loved cheese, beginning in childhood. But, every time I try to cut my calories, I find myself cutting cheese since the calories and fat seem to add up so quickly.  Luckily, I have found a few options for eating cheese over the years, including yummy cheese bites from the Laughing Cow, amazing flavored fat free cheese, and decadently delicious goat cheese from Chavrie, which I have written about in the past. Keeping in that line – and because I know you likely love cheese as much as I do – I have to give you the 4-1-1 on a new fave I love – Cabot Reduced Fat Cheese.

First of all, let me start by saying that Cabot has a great variety of different reduced fat cheeses out there – in fact, I was amazed by the different cheeses and the different percentages of fat that you could choose from.  I really like the 75% Reduced Fat Sharp from Cabot.  This is just sixty calories and 2.5 fat grams per ounce and was even named the best low-fat cheese by Fitness Magazine. One serving is also only 1 weight watchers points plus point!

But it is notable that there are other varieties of Cabot low fat cheeses that might tempt your palette.  This includes the 50% Reduced Fat Jalapeno variety that I love to serve on a tray with sliced apples.   The key when buying any cheese in blocks is to slice the cheese ultra thin – you still get the delicious cheese taste that you crave with fewer calories.  Cabot also offers their cheeses in ¾ ounce Reduced Fat Minis, which are single serving, smaller portioned cheese snacks that are just 53 calories and oh-so-delicious.

You can buy Cabot cheese online from Cabot, or at stores like Safeway, Costco, or Whole Foods.

Enjoy!

  1. Hey... thanks for the great review! We're pretty proud of the 75% ourselves *grin*. Glad you found it and more importantly, glad you like!
