Delicious Goat Cheese & Low Calorie Goat Cheese Pizza

chavrie goat cheeseI'm a huge fan of goat cheese -- I love its silky texture, and I think it actually tastes better on a pizza than mozzarella (see more about this below). Having only ordered goat cheese in a restaurant until recently, I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered some goat cheese made by Chavrie at my local Whole Foods that was only 50 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, and 3 grams of protein per 30 gram serving (which is a very big portion of such a light cheese).

The Chavrie goat cheese is totally delicious. I personally like it more cooked more than I do raw out of the package. This particular brand of goat cheese also comes in a Basil and Roasted Garlic flavor (for the same calories) if you like these flavorings as I do.

So, as I mentioned above, I now love to make and eat my own low calorie goat cheese pizza at home. Here are the ingredients I use to make it:

- One La Tortilla Factory Soft Wrap
- One quarter cup of Ragu tomato sauce
- One serving of goat cheese (I weigh it on my food scale)
- 8-10 grams of pine nuts or walnuts (I weigh them on my food scale and then crack them into tiny pieces)
- Crushed fresh garlic (to taste)
- Sliced onions (to taste)

Oven time/temperature varies on how you like your pizza cooked and how crispy you like your tortilla crust. You really can't get it wrong.

Enjoy!
Juliet

  1. Pine nuts are so good- I really have to pick some up :) Glad you enjoyed Lite for Life! It was way too expensive for me to get a lot of stuff, but they had interesting things to look at.

  2. I haven't actually tried goat cheese yet... but as you're recommending it, I'll definitely try it! Does it have a stronger flavor than mozzarella?

I had a goat cheese cheesecake at a local restaurant for the first time two years ago, and... holy smokes! It was so good!

I'm glad you found some yummy cheese and a great way to use it!
